WC on the Fringe
We got reviewed! My God, it's thrilling. The entirety of the lovely blurb by Kitty Van Oosten of Three Weeks is posted below. Wow. It's like, we're all official and stuff now...
Father Joy
Washington College Drama
This is a fascinating story: Abigail, an artist who still hasn’t found the perfect material to work with, falls in love with her slightly pretentious, very much older, but utterly likable art teacher. Meanwhile, at home, her father is literally diminishing: he’s turning into sand. The play is clever, and the acting spirited, but the unsympathetic female characters bother me, especially the mother. Another problem is the way in which the characters never seem to listen to each other, and keep repeating the same thing over and over again, making the play unnecessarily long and ruining the suspension of disbelief. At some points, ‘Father Joy’ takes itself too seriously - we are talking about a man turning to sand here, after all. Still, it is an interesting play that deserves to be seen.
Greyfriars Kirk House, 7 – 25 Aug (not 14, 15, 21, 22), 5:00pm, £3.00 (£2.00), fpp 165
tw rating: 3/5

The script is great - amusing, touching, and thought-provoking. The performers are convincing and honest. Well done!
